Nagoya University Graduate School of Law takes part in the UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day 2022

On December 13, 2022, Nagoya University Graduate School took part in the UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day 2022 with a workshop titled "The Role of Arbitration in Legal Harmonization. An East Asian Perspective". The event was attended by 20 participants from 12 different jurisdictions.

The workshop was opened by an introduction by Prof. Giorgio Fabio Colombo of Nagoya University Graduate School of Law on the importance of arbitration in the framework of legal harmonization. Then, Mr. Tony Andriotis, Partner at DLA Piper in Tokyo and JCAA Institutional Relations Officer offered a presentation on the role of arbitral institutions in creating common practices. Dr. Julia Jiyeon Yu, Lecturer at Kyushu University, presented on the arbitrability of IP disputes in some selected jurisdictions, with a specific focus on East Asia. The event was closed by the conclusion by Prof. Dai Yokomizo of Nagoya University Graduate School of Law, who offered some critical remarks about the challenges of harmonization. Nagoya University Graduate School of Law continues its tradition of taking part in the UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day, and we look forward to the 2023 edition.
