Nagoya University Graduate School of Law took part in the UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day 2023

On December 20, 2023, Nagoya University Graduate School of Law took part in the UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day 2023. A Workshop under the title "The Role of Technology and Law in Cross-Border Trade Substantive and Procedural Issues" was held, under the co-sponsorship of the Asian Institute of International Financial Law (AIIFL), The event was attended by participants from all over the world, with 61 registered attendees from 19 countries. The audience included accomplished arbitration scholars and practitioners, civil servants, executives of financial companies as well as students, both graduate and undergraduate. After an introductory speech by Prof. Giorgio Fabio Colombo, Dr. Giuliano Castellano (Deputy Director of AIIFL and Associate Professor, The University of Hong Kong) presented on the topic of Financing Supply and Value Chains for Development: Technology and Law Reforms. Mr. Tony Andriotis (Partner at DLA Piper in Tokyo, and JCAA Professional & Institutional Relations Officer presented about Arbitration and Innovation, also with a specific focus on AI. After a rich Q&A session, Prof. Dai Yokomizo, Nagoya University Graduate School of Law, offered some conclusions focusing on the importance of the role of legal innovation coupled with technological innovation, and how to navigate new issues in a situation which is, at the same time, challenging and full of opportunities.
