Nagoya University Graduate School of Law takes part in the UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day 2021

On December 15, 2021, Nagoya University Graduate School of Law took part in the UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day 2021. A Workshop under the title "Bringing Arbitration to MSMEs. Academic and Institutional Initiatives for a More Accessible Arbitration" was held, under the co-sponsorship of the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association (JCAA) and the Milan Chamber of Arbitration (CAM). 
The event was attended by participants from all over the world, and the audience included representatives of UNCITRAL, accomplished arbitration scholars and practitioners, as well as students. 
After an introductory speech by Prof. Giorgio Fabio Colombo, Mr. Tony Andriotis (Partner at DLA Piper in Tokyo, and JCAA Professional & Institutional Relations Officer) presented about recent reforms in the JCAA Rules, and in particular on the "Interactive Arbitration Rules". Ms. Benedetta Coppo, of the Milan Chamber of Arbitration, gave a comprehensive overview of the initiatives the CAM undertook to make arbitration cheaper and more accessible. After a rich Q&A session, Prof. Dai Yokomizo, Vice Dean of Nagoya University Graduate School of Law offered some conclusions focusing on the importance of legal cultures in dispute resolution, and on the role of arbitration in access to commercial justice.
