IP lecture in China: Expectations for further academic exchange worldwide

On the evening of June 22, Professor Masabumi Suzuki delivered a lecture at Sun Yat-sen University (中山大学)of China upon the invitation of Professor Yang Li. The lecture concerns remedies for patent infringement, and garnered the attendance of judges, lawyers, scholars, and students. During the session, Professor Suzuki spoke on the Japanese courts’ position on injunctions and damages, while emphasizing on the different approaches to the standards for granting injunctive relief and calculation of damages. Serving as translators during the session are Qi Jun and Ziyan, both LL.D. students under Professor Suzuki’s supervision at Nagoya University. They did an excellent job in facilitating and contributing to the discussions. Given the proliferation of intellectual property rights in Asia, we look forward to furthering our cooperation and academic exchanges with other institutions.
